Former US Intelligence Officer Warns of Imminent US Attack on Iran
Daily Politics Desk Opinion
In a video clip shared on the Prof. Glenn Diesen Clips channel, former U.S. Marine intelligence officer and UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter warned that indicators point to an imminent American military attack on Iran. He cited the movement of a "greater armada" of U.S. naval and air power to the region, disruptions to civilian airspace, and media reports of planned precision strikes against Iranian officials as signs of escalation.
Ritter assessed that while past U.S. administrations have pulled back from the brink, the current military buildup suggests the situation is different. He argued that any U.S. attack, especially a failed "decapitation strike" against Iranian leadership, would trigger a devastating response. Ritter emphasized Iran's significant retaliation capabilities, which include the ability to terminate regional energy production, inflict heavy casualties on U.S. bases, and potentially sink an American aircraft carrier.
The former inspector detailed Iran's extensive preparations for an existential conflict, developed over two decades. He described a national resilience strategy involving underground cities, independent military districts, and hidden command posts designed to ensure continuity of government even if Tehran is hit. Consequently, Ritter stated a U.S. strike would not achieve regime change but would instead provoke a "knockout punch" against Israel and cause a permanent disruption to global energy supplies.
He warned the economic fallout would be severe, risking a collapse of the U.S. dollar and triggering uncontrollable energy prices worldwide. Ritter suggested the objective may have shifted from targeting Iran's nuclear program to facilitating the country's fragmentation by backing separatist groups, a plan he believes is based on a flawed assessment of Iran's internal stability and military preparedness. The clip presents a grave warning that conflict with Iran would spiral into a regional war with dire global economic consequences.
