New Artwork Believed to Be by Banksy Appears in Central London

A new artwork widely believed to be by the elusive street artist Banksy has appeared overnight at the base of a skyscraper in west London, quickly attracting crowds of onlookers and sparking debate over its meaning.

The mural, discovered in the Bayswater area, depicts two children standing side by side and gazing up at a night sky filled with stars. Rendered in Banksy’s signature monochrome style, the piece is positioned low on the building, making it easily accessible to the public.

As with many suspected Banksy works, the artist has not immediately confirmed authorship. Banksy typically verifies new pieces by sharing images on his official social media channels, and until then the artwork remains unofficial. Nevertheless, art experts and fans say the style and placement strongly suggest it is genuine.

Local authorities moved quickly to protect the mural, erecting barriers to prevent damage as visitors gathered to photograph the piece. Previous Banksy artworks have been vandalized or removed shortly after appearing, prompting calls for rapid preservation.

The new mural adds to Banksy’s long tradition of using public spaces to provoke reflection, with interpretations ranging from a message of hope and wonder to commentary on urban life and childhood innocence in modern cities.
