Professor Warns US War on Iran Would Collapse Persian Gulf Allies and Destabilise Global Order

In an interview with the YouTube channel Think BRICS (@ThinkBRICS), Professor Mohammad Marandi offers a stark analysis of the potential consequences of a US-led war against Iran. The discussion, hosted by Lorenzo Maria Pacini, frames recent Western media coverage of Iran as a coordinated "information warfare" campaign aimed at manufacturing public consent for military action. Marandi argues that this misrepresents internal events and downplays foreign interference.

Marandi warns that such a conflict would have catastrophic and uncontrollable regional repercussions. He emphasises that Iran's extensive network of underground missile and drone bases, developed over decades, is designed for retaliation. He states that US military assets hosted by "tiny Arab family dictatorships" in the Persian Gulf would be the primary targets, casting doubt on the survival of those allied governments. The analysis further suggests that Israel's security would be severely jeopardised, and that a war would halt oil and gas exports from West Asia, leading to a global economic collapse that could destabilise Western economies and governments.

The professor positions a potential war within a broader geopolitical shift. He argues that relentless US pressure has acted as a catalyst, driving Iran into a deeper strategic alignment with Russia and China within frameworks like BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. This, he states, accelerates the move towards a multipolar world order, contrary to US objectives. The interview concludes that while Iran seeks to avoid war, it is militarily prepared and will not negotiate its sovereignty, defence capabilities, or regional alliances, setting the stage for a high-stakes confrontation.
