U-Haul Truck Drives Into Protest Crowd in Westwood, Los Angeles

A U-Haul truck drove into a crowd during an anti-Iranian government protest in the Westwood area of Los Angeles, prompting an immediate police response. Authorities said one person was struck and injured, with no fatalities reported.

The Los Angeles Police Department said officers quickly detained the driver at the scene. Investigators are questioning the individual and reviewing video footage and witness statements to determine how and why the vehicle entered the protest area.

The demonstration was part of a wider series of rallies held abroad opposing Iran’s leadership. Witnesses described moments of panic as the truck moved through the crowd before being stopped by police, raising concerns about crowd safety at large public gatherings.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing and that charges will depend on the findings. The incident has renewed scrutiny of protest security measures, including traffic controls, vehicle barriers and LAPD crowd management procedures during demonstrations.
