Snow and Ice Warnings Issued as Multi-Hazard Weather Event Forecast for UK

Weather warnings for snow and ice have been extended across parts of the UK, with forecasters cautioning that a spell of disruptive conditions could bring travel problems and localised impacts.

The Met Office said further snowfall and freezing temperatures are expected before a broader “multi-hazard” weather event develops later in the week. This could include a combination of snow, ice, strong winds and heavy rain, increasing the risk of disruption.

Yellow warnings have been issued for several regions, particularly in southern England and higher ground, where snow accumulation and icy surfaces could make driving conditions hazardous. Transport operators and local authorities have been urged to prepare for potential delays.

Forecasters said the changing conditions reflect a complex weather system moving across the UK, with cold air interacting with wetter Atlantic fronts. While not all areas will be affected equally, officials warned that even small amounts of snow or ice could have a significant impact during busy travel periods.

The public has been advised to check forecasts regularly and allow extra time for journeys. Emergency services and councils said they are monitoring conditions closely as the weather system develops.
